Browsing without an account
You can browse without an account. Analytics starts when you visit unless you previously declined. We show the cookie banner to visitors whose country is identified as an EU member state.
Analytics and your choice
We use Google Analytics 4 through Google Tag Manager to count page views and searches, including search terms and page types, without sending your name or email. We also count visits on our server and record coarse location usage. Decline stops these analytics and removes site cookies accessible to this page. It cannot remove cookies owned by other websites or protected from browser scripts. Your choice is saved on this device; you can decline using the button below.
If you create an account
We store your email address, a display name if you set one, and the sessions you have open. We keep what you contribute — reviews and their earlier versions, photographs, venue suggestions, address confirmations — and the Seeds ledger that explains your balance, which is append-only by design: a balance that cannot be explained by the entries behind it is not worth having.
Location
"Use my location" and "I'm here — confirm the address" ask your browser for coordinates. Confirming a venue's address stores that you confirmed it and how far away you were, because that is what makes the confirmation worth anything. When you press a location button we also keep one coarse usage point — your position rounded to about a kilometre — so we can see the areas where 420.camp is actually used. The precise coordinates are used for the request and discarded; we never store a movement track.
When the map opens, the server also looks up your IP address in a database it holds itself (DB-IP Lite, used under CC BY 4.0) to start the map near your city. That is a guess about your network, not your position; the address is not sent anywhere, not stored and not logged. If your browser shares your position, that replaces the guess.
If you claim a venue
We keep the claim, the conversation with our reviewers, and any documents you send to prove you control the business. Those documents are visible to our moderators and to nobody else, and they are not published.
What we log
Our servers log requests to run and protect the service. Moderation decisions — approving a photo, hiding a review, granting a plan, deleting something — are written to an audit log with who did it. That log is internal and is how a decision can be explained later.
Protecting the forms from abuse
Most visits never meet this. The check only starts after activity a person is unlikely to produce — several venue suggestions within a few minutes, or a long burst of searches. Ordinary reading, and the first few submissions, load nothing from Google at all.
When it does start, we use Google reCAPTCHA v3. It asks you to do nothing: Google scores the session from behaviour already observed in your browser and returns a token, which our server then checks with Google. That exchange sends your IP address and interaction data to Google and sets Google's _GRECAPTCHA cookie. We use the result for one thing only — telling a person from automation before a form is accepted.
Google's own policies govern what Google does with that data: Google Privacy Policy and Google Terms of Service.
Who else sees it
Google receives analytics data unless you decline, and supplies maps and place data. We do not sell this data. Public contributions, such as reviews and published photos, are also available through our API.
What you can ask for
A copy of what we hold about you, a correction, or deletion of your account and its contributions. Write to privacy@420.camp. Deleting an account removes its contributions from public view; audit-log entries recording our own moderation decisions are kept, because a record that can be erased by the person it concerns is not a record.
Children
This site is not for people under the legal age for cannabis information where they are. We do not knowingly keep data about them; tell us if you believe we have.
