Full law guide for Trier

Is cannabis legal in Trier?

Buying cannabisAllowed with conditionsGuidance from Germany

Non-medical access through cultivation associations requires membership, age 18+ and qualifying German residence. Clubs organized as associations (Vereine) require a minimum three-month membership. This is non-commercial association supply, not dispensary retail. Prescription medical dispensing through pharmacies is a separate route.

Minimum age 18+

The association route is not open to visiting tourists; qualifying residence is required.

Association supply is capped at 25 g per day and 50 g per calendar month for members 21+; members aged 18-20 have a 30 g monthly cap and a 10% THC cap.

These dispensing limits do not replace the separate possession limits.

Tourist accessProhibitedGuidance from Germany

Tourists cannot use the German adult-use system: cultivation-association membership requires at least six months of habitual residence in Germany, so there is no legal purchase route for visitors.

Minimum age 18+

The non-profit association model is residents-only; visitors have no legal supply channel.

Never carry cannabis across a national border.
